For the eleven years until I retired in 2015 I was the headteacher of a small Voluntary Aided infant school in Mickleham just outside Dorking that has just been described by Ofsted as “a hidden gem”. This was a job that was the most rewarding of a career in education, that began in a boy’s comprehensive school in Hounslow teaching History and Economics, and included many years at a primary school in Dorking where I trained as a specialist in Early Childhood Education.
While our 3 children were growing up my husband Tim and I lived in Kingsfold, we moved into Horsham itself in 2016. Our daughter lives here with our 2 grandchildren the eldest of whom has just joined the Reception class at the school and we have relished becoming part of the St Mary’s church family.
I help the Nursery team for some Forest School sessions come rain or shine and love watching the quietest of children come out of their shells as they explore the environment. I thoroughly enjoy coming into school to listen to readers.
I am proud to join the governing body of St Marys School I. I look forward to utilising my skills and experience, offering all the support I can as it continues to strive to maintain its success as a happy and stimulating place for children to learn.
