My husband and I moved to Horsham in 1979. We have worshipped at St Mary’s Church for almost 40 years holding various roles in the life of the church including Sunday School teaching. Our three daughters attended St Mary’s School in the 1980s and early 1990s.
I trained as a teacher of the deaf and taught for 25 years at the Hearing Impaired Unit attached to a mainstream primary school in Crawley, the latter 10 years as Teacher in Charge of the unit. I retired from teaching in 2012 and appreciate having more time to spend with my family including grandchildren and pursuing my interests, dancing, saxophone playing, gardening, walking and volunteering.
It was a privilege to be asked to be a governor at St Mary’s School and, now appointed, I am delighted to have the opportunity to use my skills and experience in primary education and special needs to support the staff and children. I am enjoying being involved in the life and work of the school and am impressed by the dedication and hard work of all the school community which is reflected in a safe, happy and stimulating learning environment for the children.
